rePlant Capital is seeking to expand its investment team through the addition of a Vice President to work across our series of integrated capital funds, starting with leading the lending portion ($200M) of Soil Fund I.
The position offers the opportunity to identify and underwrite loans for farms and ranches in the agriculture supply chains of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, supporting farm transitions to regenerative practices. This person will have responsibilities across the entire life cycle of a loan, including evaluation, execution, and portfolio management oversight. Successful candidates should expect to work closely with farmers and large food company partners to achieve and surpass mutually determined goals. The successful candidate will lead a growing team.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate new lending opportunities, working with significant autonomy while collaborating with senior members of the team as needed to provide innovative, unique loan structures for farmers and ranchers
- Lead all loan origination activities through engagement with partners
- Manage internal and external resources throughout the underwriting process
- Oversee the development of detailed financial models and analysis
- Lead the negotiation of transaction related documents
- Guide lending approval process including creating and presenting loan memoranda
- Direct all portfolio management activities, including monitoring and tracking of loan performance, while collaborating with senior deal team members, company partners, and farmers and ranchers
- Provide strategic and financial analysis support to loan portfolio
- Recommend research-driven changes to loan strategy as appropriate
- Support Soil Fund I activities in conference preparation and investor communications
- Monitor portfolio performance with respect to metrics and data on soil health, water infiltration, nutrient density, and soil organic matter
- Mentor and oversee work product of Senior Associates, Associates, and Analysts
- Builds rePlant’s reputation for strong underwriting and integrated-capital innovation
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of post-undergraduate professional experience with superior performance at a commercial agriculture bank, a top tier investment bank, private equity, other private investment firm, or strategic consulting firm
- Demonstrated interest in impact lending and a thorough understanding of loan processes and agricultural lending specifically
- Strong analytical skill set and high level of proficiency and comfort with 3-statement financial modeling and analysis
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks (investment/credit committee, client management, team leadership)
- Creative thinker with an ability to be resourceful in solving complex issues with data and forming unique loan structuring ideas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to present and defend points of view in both formal and informal settings
- Demonstrates effective leadership with track record of building and guiding teams
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and hunger to grow and succeed both professionally and personally
- Entrepreneurial, flexible thinker willing to question the status quo of incumbent commercial agriculture lending practices
- Takes innovative perspectives on existing challenges with a willingness to tolerate risk
- Demonstrated track record of lending success
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
