Job Description

RodoeCPG is seeking a Senior Engagement Manager which will be a dynamic role requiring you to manage the client, the cross-functional team, and the project. You will work with the internal Rodeo and client team to achieve the client’s goals on timeline and budget. You will lead commercialization engagements from start to finish working with members of our R&D, Operations & Sales teams. The role requires the ability to build strong relationships both with the client team and with our internal team and to navigate the challenges of the innovation process. While you will own more complex engagements completely, you will also manage and coach Engagement Managers as they run less-complex engagements, with your support. You will be instrumental as we look to grow our Engagement Management department to serve a growing list of clients even more effectively.

Key Elements of Role:

  • Lead engagements with brands from kickoff to product launch managing the multiple workstreams of the commercialization process simultaneously (R&D, Marketing, Data & Consumer Research, Operations & Sales +)

  • Direct Product Strategy: Act as a thought partner to the client to define their product vision, synthesize market data and client preferences to set a strategy and execute it

  • Manage the client: Build and manage relationships with client counterparts; Keep projects on scope while balancing client needs through the ups and downs of the innovation process; negotiate scope & pricing changes as needed

  • Staff the Project: Work with cross-functional counterparts internally (R&D, OPS, Sales Directors) to staff projects appropriately, creating the best roster for client & team

  • Manage a Cross-functional Team: Manage Rodeo’s cross-functional team assigned to the project, keeping everyone to task, and maintain all internal project management tools

  • Guide Decision-making: Synthesize cross-functional information to direct the internal project team into and guide the client in decision making

  • Run Internal & External Meetings, Maintain Communication & Tools: Run external meetings and create and share all client facing correspondence and materials; Run internal meetings and maintain all project management tools

  • Anticipate & Navigate Hurdles: Constantly review the status of the project to anticipate hurdles, seek out information from the client and internal team and problem-solve to get to a solution

  • Leadership Visibility: Keeping track of all projects and key milestones and providing visibility to senior management

  • Managing and coaching Engagement Managers: on some clients your work will be limited to strategic advisory and navigating hurdles and you will support Engagement Managers as they manage projects helping them prioritize, navigate hurdles, make decisions, and improve upon relationship building, presentation skills +

  • Innovate & Improve: identify and share opportunities and solutions to improve Rodeo’s approach to client engagements

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

  •  5+ years of commercialization experience in CPG

  • Track record of running multiple projects and managing competing priorities

  •  Experience leading cross-functional teams through successful projects

  •  Experience managing external agencies, clients, or other relevant experience

  •  Self-starter comfortable working autonomously and with teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  •  Strong collaborator, problem-solver and innovator with experience building processes and tools to improve efficiency

  •  Experience influencing stakeholders and navigating the organization

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word +)

 Nice To Haves

  • Passion for the food industry – brands & trends, natural products, chefs & restaurants

  • Understanding of, or experience in R&D, Operations, or Sales functions

  • Experience working with syndicated consumption data (SPINS, IRI, Nielsen)
