Job Description

We’re looking for a Director with CPG food production experience to join our team at KitchenTown! The Director of QA/QC is a key role that interacts with many people on a daily basis to help manage our scale up food manufacturing facility. We’re looking for someone who is mechanically minded, experienced with food equipment, knowledgeable about QA and QC, Supply chain, Food Safety, Worker safety, Sanitization protocol, and Production shift patterns.Responsibilities 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Director of QA/QC works on the Operations Team and helps Warehouse and Maintenance personnel to ensure smooth operation of the facility on a daily basis.
  • Day-to-day management of shared commercial kitchen and warehouse, making sure workplace, food safety, and sanitation protocols are adhered to.
  • Work with Warehouse Manager and sanitation staff to operate a safe, clean food production facility.  
  • Oversee the successful production of food products, while ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Handle all manner of problems and breakdowns typical for a food facility
  • Maintain production schedule and coordinate the use of multiple workstations and equipment 
  • Manage facility vendors such as pest control, chemicals, consumables, trash/compost/recycling collection.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and training programs. 
  • Commission new equipment and train staff on proper and safe use and cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure that production workers are observing GMP rules
  • Responsible for shift patterns and flow of ingredients into the facility.  
  • Remain compliant with safety and environment regulations. 
  • Responsible for insuring the company operating policies and procedures are being administered correctly throughout the facility
  • Oversee facility capex projects
  • Lead daily/weekly facility meetings
  • Conduct continuing analysis of production, recommending operational changes as required 
  • Ongoing FSMA and other regulatory compliance
  • Ensure that established standard operating procedures are being followed, and create and develop new protocols, systems and operations documents 
  • Think strategically about how to make continuous improvements on KitchenTown’s operational systems as our business evolves 
  • Job performance is measured by the CEO on how well the plant is performing its operations

Skills & Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Experienced with food production in a manufacturing environment, such as a co-packer, or CPG food company.
  • 5+ years of food manufacturing, kitchen operations, or related experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety & sanitation, production, equipment maintenance and warehousing
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and experiences
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and accommodating while upholding food safety standards and operating procedures 
  • Creative problem solver and team player 
  • Ability to stay cool under pressure
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift 25 lbs
  • Able to read, understand, identify and communicate schedules, standards, procedures, processes, and recipes
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The person in this position must be able to be on their feet for extended periods of time. Frequently moves product weighing 35+ pounds. Frequently communicates with staff and/or external customers and vendors, and must be able to exchange accurate information.

From $100,000 per year commensurate with experience
