We’re looking for:

We’re looking for a motivated, analytical, and creative individual to join our team and lead sourcing and physical product development efforts at Brightland. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing CPG startup and help shape our product development, roadmap and strategy. This role will report directly to the CEO.

We require that you: 

  • Oversee and own all new product development, from market & product research, competitive analysis, timeline development, design, sourcing, costing and packaging, testing, compliance and pricing.
  • Become a category expert within Brightland’s niche of consumer goods (e.g. pantry, household, etc)
  • Source all ingredients for new products, source alternate suppliers for existing products, oversee purchasing.
  • Build and manage schedules and timelines for new product development, and maintain running documentation of status of all projects, budgets, and costs and communicate with the team. 
  • Source and communicate with partners to negotiate pricing, terms, and manufacturing capabilities during various points in the product development cycle for both new and existing products.
  • Work closely with the Head of Operations on forecasting & capacity planning, as well as lead-times.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers that treat them as part of the Brightland journey. 
  • Work with Marketing on go-to market strategy for new product launches
  • Are able to successfully lead product development on both food and non-food products. 
  • Constantly strive to improve existing products based on customer feedback
  • Analyze current business and metrics in order to identify future opportunities against company wide goals (top line targets, margin goals, etc.)
  • Keep a continuous pulse on market trends, white space in the industry, and the competitive landscape

 

More about you and what we are looking for: 

  • A bachelor’s degree
  •  3-7 years of experience in product development and sourcing, preferably in food.
  • CPG & E-commerce experience required, experience with private brand preferred
  •  Bonus points if you have worked with small scale farms. 
  •  A great track record of successfully developing the product vision and requirements for successful product launches.
  • An understanding of best sourcing practices and research methods
  • A knowledge base around about negotiating with suppliers, providers and what drives vendors’ cost structures
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize meaningful patterns and themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  •  Proven communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • You have a naturally collaborative demeanor and you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and highly-fluid environment.
  • You are decisive, driven by action, and able to motivate, inspire, and lead varying teams to leverage resources effectively.
  • You’re comfortable being versatile and overseeing both strategy and execution as we evolve your role and team. 
  • You are strongly motivated by results, and possess the ability to manage independently and take calculated risks.
  • You are optimistic, passionate, and humble. 
  • You genuinely love food and cooking!
