The Grocery Inventory Manager is responsible for Good Eggs’ inbound grocery supply chain. The Grocery Inventory team is responsible for ordering, receiving, and stowing all goods that we sell (except for produce). One subteam handles all inbound operations, and a second subteam manages our inventory including maintaining backstock inventory accuracy and stocking product into frontstock to enable picking of daily orders.  

The Grocery Manager works closely with our Buying & Merchandising team on product selection, purchasing guidelines, vendor relationships and merchandising. He or she also works closely with the other warehouse leaders to deliver an optimal experience to customers, maintain the safety and cleanliness of our facilities, and build great teams and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee replenishment purchasing of all grocery items, maintaining high product availability while minimizing shrink and spoilage
  • Manage team members performing all receiving and inventory management tasks, including:
    • Maintaining product quality via inspection at receiving
    • Receiving and stowing incoming product into physical inventory using our proprietary inventory management tools
    • Maintaining inventory accuracy via regular cycle counting, FIFO procedures, and overall organizational systems
  • Support accurate and timely payments to our food producers by collecting invoices at receiving, checking them for accuracy, and submitting to Accounts Payable
  • Work closely with Pick team management to ensure inventory stocking supports a smooth, efficient pick flow
  • Work with Foodhub management team on team-wide planning & projects
  • Provide direction, feedback, coaching, support to build a strong team and leadership pipeline
  • Develop and maintain operational standards to maintain quality of service and compliance with food safety protocols
  • Ensure inventory storage and work areas are clean & organized
  • Facilitates messaging to team about company, warehouse, etc. news/information
  • Perform administrative and managerial duties, including scheduling, reviewing hours, approving overtime, submitting time for payroll processing, and managing employee relations
  • Help develop and roll out new process improvements, and collect process improvement feedback from team members

Key Outcomes & Metrics:

  • Accurate inventory with shrink & spoilage < 2.5% of sales
  • Team labor cost below / throughput above determined thresholds
  • Consistent enforcement of time & attendance and other employee policies
  • Low employee turnover
  • Professional growth of team to support strong leadership pipeline
  • Frontstock 100% stocked with items needed for pickers
  • 100% adherence to food safety and occupational safety codes & policies

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  College degree a plus
  • 4 or more years of warehousing or grocery experience
  • 2 or more years experience as a supervisor / manager
  • Experience in Lean process improvement a plus
  • Good communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Organizational skills

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in the use of Gmail / Google calendar or equivalent
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets such as Excel / Google Sheets
  • General understanding of how to use standard computer operating systems
  • General understanding of how to use tablets / smartphones
  • General understanding of how to use printers, bar-code scanners
  • Ability to use warehousing software after training
  • Ability to use standard warehousing tools such as box cutters, hand trucks and pallet jacks
  • Understanding of units of measure such as ounces and pounds, pints, quarts, gallons, etc
  • Understanding of how to use digital scales & thermometers
  • Proficiency in spoken / written English
