From perfect golden sears with a quality pan, to beautifully sliced vegetables with a sharp knife, we believe that better tools make for better cooking, and better meals. What’s more, by selling directly to consumers, thereby eliminating traditional retail markups, we’re able to offer premium tools at honest prices. We launched in 2015 with our Chef’s Knife on Kickstarter, raising over $1M in pledges, and have been expanding into other kitchen tools since then.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Head of Brand Marketing to help grow and develop the Misen brand and drive awareness, creating and executing a tactical marketing plan over multiple channels. The candidate will:

  • Create and execute a comprehensive marketing plan across all brand marketing efforts, including tangible goals/KPIs to measure against.

  • Lead strategy, conception, and execution across: content creation and marketing strategy, email marketing, PR and media outreach, influencer marketing, partnerships, social media, events, and other efforts to drive brand awareness and conversion.

  • Lead all content strategy and creation initiatives to be used across various channels including website, email, social, and more. Ensure brand messaging and customer experience is consistent throughout all customer touch points.

  • Lead internal PR and media outreach efforts, in conjunction with external resources, to drive earned media.

  • Cultivate relationships with influencers and organizations in the food and other relevant industries to develop brand evangelists and form partnerships/collaborations

  • Work closely with Head of Growth to support Misen’s digital performance marketing and acquisition initiatives, and ensure they are aligned with brand marketing efforts

  • Represent the Misen brand publicly at events

Who You Are

  • 7+ years of experience in consumer marketing, branding, or communications roles, ideally at another digital-first commerce brand, consumer products company, food or lifestyle brand

  • Strong experience developing and executing comprehensive brand marketing plans across multiple channels, with tangible goals/KPIs to measure against. Comfortable managing and optimizing budgets effectively, and passionate about using data to support your recommendations.

  • Excited to buckle down and execute on tasks yourself, but also able to delegate and lead teams. Prior experience building and managing effective teams and resources within an early-stage context

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, both verbal and written. Clear ability to deliver the most salient and compelling points for an intended audience

  • Strong prior experience with content production across photo, video, copy, and graphic assets. Able to manage creative process from ideation to final deliverables.

  • Strong familiarity and relationships with comparable direct-to-consumer companies, food + kitchenware companies, food media companies, and other influencers/organizations in the food world

  • Experience securing earned media from food and non-food media organizations, and strong relationships in the media world

  • Excited to roll up your sleeves and be part of a collaborative startup team where no task is too small (or large). Highly organized and process driven, but able to thrive in a constantly changing environment
