Albuquerque, NM and is dedicated to growing local food economy by increasing
local producer access to food manufacturing technology and services. NMFF
manufactures and distributes Verde Juice and other beverage and ready-to-eat
products. It will also be the first HPP tolling facility in New Mexico,
providing shelf-lengthening technology to food manufacturers across the State.
The new 20,000 sf refrigerated facility will be operational in February, 2021.

Job
Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager
will provide leadership within the facility to drive positive change through
influence and example. This individual will be working with plant operations to
build and maintain an effective Food Safety and Quality culture within the
facility.

 

The Quality Assurance Manager
will:

·       
Have the responsibility and authority to lead
the development and implementation of the Food
Safety Plan and play a key role in the communication of information
related to the implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.

·       
Contribute to the development of processes to
meet and exceed the expectations of co-packaging clients, ensuring that all
finished products are safe and meet product
specifications.

 

Job Duties:

·       
Ensure daily plant quality and food safety
operations follow company policies, procedures, customer requirements, local, state,
and federal regulations.

·       
Provide all training to plant personnel
concerning FSP, OSHA, FSMA and other regulatory compliance.

·       
Ensure adequate allocation of resources to
support the FSP, including monitoring and validating effectiveness and
compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.

·       
Review the HACCP system and all prerequisite programs.

·       
Research new cost-reducing solutions to improve
manufacturing processes.

·       
Assist clients with the development of new
products for co-packaging, from conceptualization to launch.

·       
Conduct in-house laboratory testing and
coordinate all third party laboratory testing

·       
Manage plant complaint investigations ensuring a
thorough, effective, timely, and customer facing response. Monitoring
compliance to customer expectations and specifications.

Provide reports and relevant information to the
organization’s top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food
safety management system.

 

Required Qualifications:

·       
Associates Degree in science related field OR
minimum 1-year prior experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance role in a
food manufacturing setting

·       
Experience with Better Process Control

·       
Full understanding of FDA/USDA regulations and
GMP in a food manufacturing facility

·       
Ability to perform physical job duties including
bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50
pounds

·       
Ability work under special work conditions such
as extreme heat or cold.

 ·       
Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs and
other computer skills

·       
Ability to work overtime as needed

·       
Ability to work holidays, weekends or different
shifts as needed

·       
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       
Willingness to travel overnight, and to work
night and weekend shifts for special projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

●       
Bachelor’s degree in science related field

●       
2-year prior experience in QC/QA role in food
manufacturing facility

●       
Experience with basic in-house lab testing for safety compliance

●       
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals

●       
HACCP certification

●       
PCQI certification

●       
SQF experience

●       
Experience with OSHA

●       
Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal

 

Status:                          Full Time, Exempt

Compensation:             $55,000-$70,000

Pay

 

Working conditions are normal for
a plant manufacturing ready-to-eat refrigerated products. Food safety practices
are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve living of raw
materials, finished cases of product or bags of refuse. You will be required to
wear face masks, observe hygiene and social distancing policies and wear safety
glasses during sanitation. The work environments is cold and requires standing
and walking during the full shift.
