Director of Operations & Food System Engagement
Chatham University seeks an innovative Director of Operations & Food System Engagement with extensive experience in community-based food systems to support the Center for Regional Agriculture, Food and Transformation (CRAFT).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Operations & Food System Engagement will work collaboratively with the CRAFT team to develop, implement, and manage programs that support a robust regional food system within Appalachia and the surrounding areas to engage Chatham students in applied learning experiences with regional and national food system stakeholders and partners.
Specifically, the Director will be responsible for:
- Directing the collaborative development of inclusive center-wide policies, procedures, and cultural norms that center community within CRAFT and between CRAFT and the Falk School of Sustainability & the Environment and Chatham University.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Budget management.
- Grant management and reporting with a focus on federal grants.
- Cultivating an applied learning space for student employees.
- Overseeing student employee, consultants, and other full-time staff within CRAFT, as well as supporting synergies between CRAFT’s monitoring and evaluation and food system research in developing regional resources and best-practices.
CRAFT’s mission and vision is actualized through a worker self-directed model in which all staff are included in decision-making processes about program design and implementation. As such, all staff are engaged to some extent in strategic planning and visioning, prospect research, grant writing and reporting, hiring, purchasing, and other administrative duties.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience with non-profit budget management.
- Experience related to conducting prospect research and managing a diverse portfolio of government and private foundation grants and consulting contracts, including grant writing, administration, evaluation, and reporting.
- Ability to collaboratively manage short and long-term projects and teams that support a more equitable, sustainable, and inclusive regional food system.
- Ability to support employee relations and cultivate a culture that promotes community, creativity, innovation, and growth within an organization.
Compensation
$70,000 – $75,000 range
