Job Description

As Project Well enters this growth chapter, we are building out our founding team and are looking to hire a Data Scientist. This role will play a pivotal function in driving key data insights and analytics to measure and improve the efficacy of our “food as medicine” solution. The position will be attractive to those who are looking to utilize strong data proficiency to directly influence human outcomes of those who are food insecure or have health-sensitive conditions. The ideal candidate will be energized to have ownership across the various data needs of the company and will aspire to make themselves an indispensable asset to Project Well. We’re seeking candidates with 3+ years of healthcare data analytics experience.

Responsibilities 

  • Bring together multiple sources of complex data to design and develop reports that provide member insight and/or answer a key business question.

  • Expand expertise in core areas of health care data, including traditional claims data, nutritional data, and novel sources of data related to consumer experience and the social determinants of health.

  • Create reporting resources and datasets that are well designed, easily maintained, and repeatable.

  • Produce clear and concise summaries of analytical findings for easy consumption by a variety of audiences through a variety of media: presentations, email summaries, executive summaries, and oral discussions.

  • Create dynamic dashboards for our teams to promote greater transparency and performance monitoring.

  • Improve the data science inputs to complex operational systems, and work collaboratively with business teams to build improved processes.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience with clinical data analytics along with experience working with clinical ontologies and terminologies, such as ICD-10, CPT, etc.

  • 3+ years experience with SQL along with knowledge of relational databases, data warehouses, and data management principles. You have experience developing dashboards and advanced reports.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, along with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Comfortable with clinical data, its complexity, and ability to explain the complexities of data projects to a non-technical audience.

  • Strong at prioritizing and executing multiple tasks that adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment. Demonstrates an acute attention to detail.

  • Motivated self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.

  • Familiar with clinical program processes (ambulatory and/or acute care) and the data produced by them.

  • Previous knowledge of statistical methods. 

  • Bonus: experience working in a managed care, ideally Medicare Advantage, environment.

  • Bonus: hold an advanced degree in a quantitative field.
