We are seeking a full-time, Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Sales team and support new customer acquisition. As a BDR at Spoiler Alert, you will have an exciting and challenging opportunity to strategically engage leading brands in the food & beverage industry on the increasingly important topics of waste prevention, supply chain strategy, and sustainable business practices. This opportunity is unique in that you’ll be getting in on the ground floor of a growing Sales team and be in a position to make a true impact on critical global topics at the intersection of climate change, affordable nutrition, and food insecurity.

Responsibilities

The BDR role will strategically open and manage conversations with enterprise food and CPG brands, deploying an account-based sales and marketing strategy in close collaboration with the company’s VP of Sales and Marketing Manager. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Master understanding of Spoiler Alert’s target market, value propositions, and strategies 
  • Position Spoiler Alert as a value-add solution to prospective customers in Sales, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance roles
  • Identify key stakeholders at large/target enterprises accounts and initiate contact, leveraging research and market knowledge to inspire intrigue
  • Create compelling value propositions with the ability to articulate verbally and in writing 
  • Identify decision makers and ask insightful questions to understand pain points and position Spoiler Alert accordingly
  • Generate and nurture leads with the goal of scheduling in-depth discovery calls and/or demos
  • Consistently meet and exceed targeted goals (activity and outcomes) set by manager
  • Track all activity thoroughly in our CRM and report on relevant metrics
  • Actively engage in training and career development
  • Ideate efficiency measures and provide feedback on BDR processes to continuously drive sales excellence
  • Provide feedback on correspondence to Marketing and Product teams

Qualifications

Success in the BDR role requires a “hunter” mentality and significant time spent on the phone, emailing prospects, and following up on leads generated by independent prospecting and marketing efforts. Qualifications include:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a sales function or someone who is sales-minded with 1-2 years of experience in finance or management consulting
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with strong relationship building capabilities
  • Client-oriented mentality with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly motivated with clever approaches to successfully start conversations
  • Adaptable, persistent, and ability to “think on your feet”
  • Strong web and computer skills, including Google G Suite, HubSpot CRM, Microsoft Office, and other online productivity and administrative tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Geographically located in the Greater Boston area
  • Experience selling or managing enterprise technology solutions
  • Understanding of account-based selling tactics and consultative sales methodologies
  • Proven ability to follow a detailed prospecting and sales processes
  • Relevant sales experience (or roles held) in enterprise technology companies
  • Prospecting experience or exposure within the food & beverage or CPG industries, as well as dealing with individuals in Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and/or Finance functions
