Kite Hill is hiring an Engineer Manager / Systems Engineer to provide process engineering and project management expertise in the design, and execution of process improvement and lean projects in facility. They will be responsible for continually evaluating process and equipment capabilities, manufacturing methods and engineering standards to facilitate sharing of best practices and implement opportunities for improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide engineering support to the manufacturing site and to product developers as needed to diagnose and trouble-shoot equipment and process problems, assist with defining process technologies and manufacturing equipment needed to commercialize new products.
- Continually evaluate process and equipment capabilities; manufacturing methods and engineering standards, available new process technologies and best industry practices to identify improvement opportunities for implementation. Oversee the development, testing, and introduction of new process equipment technology.
- Assist the site teams in the development and execution of capital initiatives, improvements programs and process improvements.
- Monitor capital project executions to ensure best available technology is utilized, project scope is delivered and demonstrated, and target benefits are realized on ROI projects.
- Participate as an active member of cross-functional project teams including R&D Product Development, Operations, Co-pack and QA teams to scale successful processes to commercial production
- Project estimating, scheduling, and vendor selection capabilities
- Project construction supervision, commissioning and start up of equipment, Support with technical training and transfer plan to Ops team
- Facility layout, process & packaging system design capabilities
- Work with production and maintenance personnel, support efforts to improve performance of current manufacturing systems, e.g. yield, speed, personnel requirements, and maintenance needs. Consider factors such as ease of setup, changeover and maintenance, reliability, contamination control and costs. Identify possible product modifications to improve manufacturability and reduce costs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Engineering (M.E. preferred) with 5-7 years’ experience, or a minimum of 10 years of combined plant/process engineering and project management experience, in the Food Industry.
- Lean experience.
- Ensure the highest level of commitment to Food Safety in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards.
- The position requires strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to influence others across multiple businesses and functional areas.
- A highly-motivated self-starter who is able to think independently, yet work as a team player with a solid background in engineering and process design and have a proven record of successful project management and process improvements.
- Ability for minimal travel to other production sites domestically.
